New Sketches
Done for the Carlos Huante, 'Breaking Anatomy' workshop last March 2011 with AnatomyTools.com We had to translate a 2D sketch into a sculpture. It was the toughest challenge yet... Still much to learn!

Influence Map
Here is my Influence Map of most of the people who have been an influence in my art and continue to be my inspiration. Mostly Old school, some new school. There it is.
Marshall Vandruff would refer these to be 'Touchtones'. If I were to pick just the 'Old Masters' (from this list), they would just be:
*Michelangelo
*N.C. Wyeth
*Mead Schaeffer
*John Singer Sargent
*J.C. Leyendecker
*Norman Rockwell
*Stanislav Szukalski
These are my artistic inspirations besides the obvious ones like Life experiences, Nature, Animals, Humans, Music, Dance, Culture, Science, Wonders of the World, etc...
*oh yeah, can't forget about Craig Mullins, one of the pioneers of digital art. AND... Ron Cobb, Syd Mead, Moebius, Ralph McQuarrie, Kazuo Oga, Wendling, & Barbucci+Canepa.
Here's the original template(from Deviantart) that you can use to make your own:

Mike Mattesi ->>Force->> Workshop Notes!
IceSkating on the page- where we all had to close our eyes and visualize, skating on the ice. Then skating(traveling in the rhythm) through the models body as we 'sculpt' the Force on to the page. To help us get loose and fluid with our drawings. Then we would use another technique, just like Blind contour drawing, but it would be Blind Force-where we would look at the Force of her body and NOT the accurate outline of her body curves. By drawing on to the page without looking at the page itself --STAYING WITH THE MODEL AT ALL TIMES.
The black lines are Mike's corrections on my drawing, to make them 'work' more.
Thanks Mike for an amazing workshop and Fabian for planning it!

gnomon workshop Live!-7 notes 0608
gnomon workshop Live!-2 notes 0206
http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/weekend_workshop2.html
Here are some notes from the Gnomon Workshop Live! 2 in L.A. back in Feb 2006. I figure, these notes that I have in all in my sketchbooks (with some valuable info that can be applied to my work), should be open to the 'light' instead of in the 'shadows' ;P As well as a reference for myself as well as others.
These were done in the dark AND I used the Gnomon Light-Up Pen!
